About Heartburn.

Heartburn, also known as acid reflux, is a common digestive condition characterized by a burning sensation in the chest or throat. It occurs when stomach acid flows back up into the esophagus, irritating the lining and causing discomfort. Heartburn can be triggered by a variety of factors, including certain foods, medications, and lifestyle habits, such as smoking or consuming alcohol. The symptoms of heartburn can range from mild to severe, and may include a burning sensation in the chest, regurgitation of food or sour liquid, difficulty swallowing, and a chronic cough. While occasional heartburn is usually not a cause for concern, frequent or severe heartburn may be a sign of a more serious condition, and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider. Treatment options for heartburn include lifestyle changes, such as avoiding trigger foods and losing weight, as well as over-the-counter and prescription medications that reduce the amount of acid in the stomach.
